ABOUT US Wills Werks is comprised of Eric and Ray Wills, a father and son team. Both owners were involved in the Information Technology field for decades and needing a change of pace and responsibility, decided to put a full time effort into our passion of many years, the restoration and service of the 356 auto. Ray has been restoring and modifying cars for over forty years. He was also well known in his hometown in New Jersey as a winning street and track racer in the 1960s. Ray also owned a restoration shop with his partner in the 1970s. Beforehand, he had an opportunity to learn metalwork and collision repair from many old-timers that are long gone from the ill effects of their profession on their health and well being. The shop where Ray was an apprentice did not allow the use of plastic filler. Eric Wills started wrenching on Porsches at 10 years old and restored along with Ray a 1960 Porsche at the age of 15 (that was 1990). He has continued to learn the mechanical and restoration aspects of the 356 Porsche since that time. Now, he enjoys putting good use to hard earned restoration skills. Wills Werks has a full selection of Porsche factory tools from the 356-era including a Celette fixture bench with the proper attachments. These tools along with our full selection of current era metalworking tools allow us to perform the kind of work you expect on your 356. Our focus is on the metalwork and transaxle restoration. We also produce certain reproduction items including the special wood handled screwdrivers used in early factory tool kits. Wills Werks partners with local shops in the area and we believe the combination of services provided by these shops is of the finest quality you will find. WORKING WITH US Wills Werks firmly believes in working well with our customers. Communication is extremely important and we are always available to answer any questions we can. This includes communication before, during, and after each job. We feel certain if you use our shop you will be pleased with the service level and the price. We also enjoy difficult problems. If you need some assistance as a weekend mechanic, give us a call.
We have standard charges for transaxle rebuilding with parts additional. Mechanical work performed will be billed at a rate of $90 an hour. Rust and collision repair will be billed at a rate of $80 an hour. Ballpark estimates can be given, but the many factors that determine the amount of time spent to repair a car will not allow fixed prices for most work. Gearbox repair estimates are given after teardown, cleaning and inspection services are performed. We know that it is impossible to bill for every hour spent on a car, and our rates reflect that practice. We do email or fax communication, in addition to good old phone conversations.
We offer a freight pickup and delivery service for engines and transaxles from a shipping partner we have worked with for over 10 years. We recommend firmly strapping the engine or transaxle to a skid with steel banding then building a plywood frame around the outside of the skid for protection.
